The 10th season of Am Slam started up again on the last weekend of June. It is the official start of summer when Southern California’s best surfers hit the water to show off their skills in front of the raucous PB Crowd.
Saturday is the day that the pros get a chance to shine, and they did just that. Conditions were very fun throughout the day and the boys killed it!
Leucadia resident Kyan Yang took the win over Caleb Crozier ( Encinitas) in a hotly contested man on man final. The point totals were indicative of just how close this final was. Kyan holding a 14.66 total and Caleb having a 14.57 total. A mere .09 points separated the two. It was a very entertaining final with two great surfers in it. 
The 15+ am division saw a good mix of young surfers from all over the southern cali area. Carlsbad local Tim Fandey held off fellow Carlsbad surfer Jack Van Wagoner to take the dub by a mere .4 points. Logan Aldrich and Graham Allen put in stellar performances as well taking 3rd and 4th respectively.
Granger Mitchell owned the 14U final and was dominant in his performance edging out Evan Tallman who took second.
The Womens Longboard final was a back and forth battle between Am Slam Veteran Tiare Thompson and young upstart Elizabeth Carrol. Elizabeth, however, was able to find the score she needed in the dying minutes to secure the season opener win.
Vaun Harrison has been in stellar form as of late and showed it in the stacked 11u final. He narrowly held of highly talented groms such as Waylon Brennan (2nd) and Henry Mullen (3rd) to take the win.
In the Womens Shortboard final Tiare Thompson found herself in another battle for 1st !! Unfortunately, Tiare ran into a hard charging and in-form Hana Bakker who took the win and insane prize pack for her efforts.
