Vans x Sun Diego Am Slam Surf 2017 Event 1 Recap

See what went down on the first stop of the 2017 Am Slam Surf Contest Series. The Sun Diego Am Slam Surf Series Presented by Vans started its fourth year with a bang! A stacked field and contestable surf greeted the some 115 competitors to make for an unforgettable display of surfing prowess throughout the day. The weather gods also blessed the event with 80 degree weather and warm water as well making it an all-around awesome day for surfers and spectators alike. With San Clemente Pier serving up chest to shoulder high waves all day it allowed the locals to flex their wave knowledge muscles! Similar to last year San Clemente surfers took top honors in all but two divisions. Top performers for the day included Griffin Colapinto (San Clemente), Taylor Clark (Encinitas) Kade Matson (San Clemente), Sage Tutterow (Hanalei, HI) Kirra Pinkerton (San Clemente), and Jasmine Gailey (Florida) Results: Mens 1.
