New for the Am Slam 2016 Season:
2016 promises to be our best year yet! First, we have more time. There will be two full days of competition at each stop. Saturdays will be for the pros and Sundays will be for the Amateurs. Pros will now have 20 minute heats instead of 15. For the groms, it equals more surf time on Sundays with the ability to grow those amateur divisions.
We’ve also expanded to South Orange County and have included San Clemente Pier as our 3rd stop of this years series!
There will also be some exciting new features this year! We have locked in a way to do live scoring updates for all Pro heats! This year we will have a fully integrated surfers lounge with couches umbrellas a place to stash your board and get some food. Groms will have a full family day including beach games and giveaways all day.
More cash and prizes! We went to our sponsors and asked them if they could help us step it up, and they responded! Our prize purse for the pros is now up to $4000 for each event with $2200 to the winner and cash going out to all the finalists. For the Amateurs, the prize packs for this year will be even bigger!
This summer is going to be a Slam with Sun Diego and O’neill getting it fired up! Also we’re proud to announce we have the best line up of sponsors to date with: Reef, Captain Fin, Nixon, Surface Sun Systems, Spy, Creatures of Leisure, Avasin Surfboards, Toyota Carlsbad and New Era. WHAT IS THE SUN DIEGO AM SLAM?
The Am Slam is an amateur surf contest series, designed to give local surfers the opportunity to compete in and excel. Although there will be some great prizes and trophies given out to top placing surfers at each stop, the overall winners will be the ones who will take home the CA$H and the title of SUN DIEGO’S 2016 AM SLAM SURF SERIES CHAMPION!
Anyone can enter the Open Division if you think you have the skills. The Open Division awards cash instead of prizes! Keep in mind, your accumulated points will remain within your division, so if you decide to enter your age division AND the Open Division, it is perfectly legal, but your points from the 2 Divisions are not added together.
HOW DO I REGISTER?
Each participant can either pre-register at sundiego.com or if there is still room left in your division on the day of the contest, you may be able to register on-site the day of. However, pre-registering on the website is your best bet for getting in the contest as there is a very limited amount of spots per division.
HOW MUCH IS THE ENTRY FEE?
Am divisions are $30 and $100 for the Pro-Am.
