Second Annual Beach Clean-up Day

The 4th of July came and went and the "The Morning After" was a huge mess as usual.  But this year we were ready for it!  With the help of the San Diego Surfrider Foundation and the hundreds of volunteers who joined us in picking up thousands of pounds of trash, we had the beaches restored to their normal conditions by mid-day!  Even City Councilmember Donna Frye came down to our P.B. site (one of our six Clean-Up locations) and gave a great speech about how we can all do our part to make sure the beaches don’t resemble landfills on the 5th of July.  To thank all of the volunteers for their help! Sun Diego hooked up the first 600 people with a free Beach Clean-Up T-shirt and also raffled off six brand new surfboards.  But even with all that incentive, we found that more than anything, people genuinely just wanted to help out.  San Diego is truly America’s finest city!  Thanks again to Surfrider, all the volunteers, all the athletes who came out and signed autographs, and all other sponsors involved.  See you all again next year!
